A coffee tree is a living plant and the harvest varies from year to year. For the trees at Finca El Cafetal, we use approximately 400–600 grams of roasted coffee per productive tree per harvest year as a guideline. This is an expectation, not a guaranteed weight. Weather, the age of the tree and its condition all influence the yield.

Yes. The harvest from your tree is recorded and processed separately so that you really receive the roasted coffee from that tree. This is also why the quantity can differ from one year to the next.

Coffee is a natural product, so there can be a good year and a smaller year. You receive the actual harvest from your tree. Unless we explicitly state otherwise, we do not guarantee a fixed number of grams.

During the launch offer, every paid adoption includes a second numbered coffee tree free of charge for the first year. The free tree applies to the first year only and does not automatically continue after that year.

Yes. The free second tree is a real additional tree, and you also receive its harvest from the first year. Because both trees are living plants, the exact combined quantity will vary.

Yes. Shipping of your annual coffee harvest from Colombia is included in the price shown on the website. There are no separate standard shipping charges for the annual harvest.

Coffee follows the natural harvest cycle. After your cherries have been harvested, the coffee still has to be processed, dried, roasted and packed. We keep you informed about the progress and expected shipping time. If you have the premium Personal Tree Camera option, these updates are also available on your personal tree page.

Every adoption includes access to general live views of the plantation. If you want to bring your own tree into live view with one click, you can add the optional Personal Tree Camera during checkout. We then link your tree to a fixed camera position.

An automatically assigned tree number is included. During checkout you can add a personal tree code, for example a birth year with initials such as 1963LM. We confirm after your order whether the requested code is available.

Yes. A coffee-tree adoption is also available as a gift. Every adoption includes a digital adoption certificate, and the recipient can follow the tree and receive its harvest just like any other adopter.

You choose the duration of the adoption, but you pay per year rather than the full term in advance. The annual price that belongs to your selected plan applies during the chosen term.

No. The adoption gives you the personal adoption experience and the harvest associated with your tree during the agreed period. It does not transfer legal ownership of the tree, land or any part of Finca El Cafetal.

Yes. You can visit Finca El Cafetal, meet the family and walk among the coffee trees. You can also stay at the finca.

For a fixed annual fee, we link your tree to its own camera position. From your personal tree page, the camera can then turn to your tree with one click, subject to technical availability and normal camera availability.

Yes. We can make a short personal video when your coffee tree is harvested and the harvest is processed. You can select this during checkout.

You can add Harvest Protection for your paid tree. If that tree yields less than 400 grams of roasted coffee in a harvest year, you receive an additional 2 kg of regular Café Maricita coffee. This extra coffee is Café Maricita coffee, but it is of course not from your own tree.

Yes. Extra Café Maricita coffee can be offered separately, for example when your annual harvest is prepared for shipment. This is separate from the coffee from your own tree.
